Nerdy Day Trips

I haven't had the chance to browse this site a lot, yet, but at first appearance, it looks pretty cool.  I really enjoy going on short little day trips or long trips where I get to find all kinds of out of the way attractions.  You know!  I like to find the stuff most people skip over on their trips.  This site seems to be a really helpful tool in doing that.  I might just blog about it if I ever actually use it while on a trip somewhere.

The Dalai Lama's 18 Rules

I found these through StumbleUpon.  I don’t know if they’re really the DL’s rules, but even if they aren’t, they’re still good ones to keep in mind.

  1. Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
  2. When you lose, don’t lose the lesson.
  3. Remember the three R’s:
    • Respect for self
    • Respect for others
    • Responsibility for all your actions
  4. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
  5. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.
  6. Don’t let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
  7. When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
  8. Spend some time alone every day.
  9. Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.
  10. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
  11. Live a good, honorable life.  Then when you get old and think back, you’ll be able to enjoy it a second time.
  12. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for you life.
  13. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation; don’t bring up the past.
  14. Share your knowledge.  It’s a way to achieve immortality.
  15. Be gentle with the Earth.
  16. Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.
  17. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.
  18. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.

MW3: The Vet & The Noob

COD has produced live action videos like this one with each of the last two or three games they've released.  This one is probably my favorite.  I just like seeing Sam Worthington & Jonah Hill playing these two characters, the vet and the noob respectively.  It's pretty funny, but it's also what it's really like in a MW3 match sometimes.

Men in Black II Blooper Reel

There is a MIB III in the works right now, and I happened to find this on YouTube.  I think it's pretty funny, especially the last bit where they're filming the "automatic pilot".

    OK Go! and the Muppets

I don't think I've very been excited about a music video's release before, but this band's videos are ALWAYS awesome.  The fact that I'm a huge Muppet fan also helps the anticipation.  There are clips in this video from several of the band's music videos.  If you haven't ever seen them, I highly recommend "Here It Goes Again" and "This Too Shall Pass".

Also, I've included a couple Muppet clips below.  One is the Muppets' take on "Bohemian Rhapsody".  The other is one of the trailers for the new Muppet movie out this fall.

I can't even begin to describe how excited I am for this new Muppet movie.  Jason Segal ("How I Met Your Mother", I Love You, Man) and Nicholas Stoller (Yes Man, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) were the writers on the film.  There are also many, many cameos in the movie, just like the older Muppet films.  I think the Muppets are getting just the right treatment on this one.

    Some Interwebs Art I Found

If you like what you see here, be sure to swing by and check out www.daverapoza.com.  This, and a lot more awesome artwork is all his.  I'm especially fond of these works due to the TMNT theme.
